How to set up a Dedicated WAW Server Using FireDaemon

February 23, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Video Tutorial on how to run and set up your CoD WAW Dedicated Server and run it as a Service, Using FireDaemon.

Click the Icon below for Video Tutorialvideo_link_icon

In CoD WAW, to run it as a service using FireDaemon. You need to set all your Parameters and use this command line in there, dont use the arrows.

Notice: I am running this on a dedicate Windows 2003 server in my house. So make sure if it is Vista or other OS the paths i descrive below are correct.

< +set dedicated 2 +set fs_game mods/mp_Jmod +set fs_localAppData +set net_ip xx.xxx.xxx.xx +set net_port 28960 +set sv_maxclients 10 +set sv_punkbuster 1 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate >

Leave out the>>>  +set fs_game mods/mp_Jmod <<< if you are running a standard server with no mods or custom maps.

You can put your server.cfg in the MAIN folder…

Your commad line Parameters may differ a little form mine, the fs_mods/yourmodfoldername (only use this if you run mods) and +set fs_localAppData must be there, like i said +set fs_localAppData must be in there no matter what. Make sure your Mods and custom user maps are in the proper place. They do not go in the game folders under program files, they must be located in the folder path i show below…

Windows XP, Server 2003 Path below to your Mods and Maps folders

 MODS>>> C:\Documents and Settings\your Windows account name\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\YOUR MOD FOLDER HERE

 USERMAPS>>> C:\Documents and Settings\your Windows account name\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps\YOUR CUSTOM USER MAPS FOLDERS HERE

Windows Vista Path below to your Mods and Maps folders

MODS>>> C:\Users\yourWindowsaccountname\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\YOUR MOD FOLDER HERE

 USERMAPS>>> C:\Users\yourWindowsaccountname\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps\YOUR MAPS FOLDERS HERE

IF you donot run custom mods or maps dont worry about the folders above, for standard game and standard maps.

Also go to Settings Tab and Put your Windows user Name and Password in the “Logon Account” area. If not the service will not run, but show that it is, even though it isn’t.

Pic-2. http://www.webexpressplus.com/extrafiles/FireDaemonWAW1.jpg

I sure hope this helps everyone understand how to run this now…you may need to refine and look up more info on the net…but this does work for me with custom mods and usermap.

 Thank you:  Jake

Disk Partitioning Software “Free”

EASEUS Partition Manager 3.0 Home Edition – FREE FOR HOME USERS ONLY

Click the Photo For Full View.

easeusI had been looking for a good Disk Partition software to use that would work with a (RAID O) Drive setup, and well after a little investigating, I came upon this program called  “EASEUS Partition Manager 3.0 Home Edition”. I installed it and gave it a try, well now it is very simular to Partition Magic, but this Home Version is a Free Ware program. They also have a “Professional and Server Edition” Which most of us will not have any need for. It worked perfectly, I have a Set of WD Drives 160 GB each set on a RAID O setup, at first I was a little skepticle, but it never failed me, worked like a charm, I added a 80 GB partition with no problems using Windows XP Pro.

Instructions below:
1. I  had first to shrink my main partition to allow an 80GB unalocated partition space.

2. I then applied the settings and rebooted my PC to make sure it was ok.

3. I then formatted the unalocated 80GB space as NTFS, smooth as a whistle.

4. Rebooted to finish and all was just fine no problems.

After checking the program out some more, I found that you can use the graphical layout to just slide the edge of the box contianing the partion around to resize, of move it from one place to another and then click apply and it will do its job.

CoD-UO Mental Mod, By Jake

Mental Mod updated to v2.8:by Jake

This is a mod i had put together awhile back, that has several upgrades. This Mod includes a throwable

knife with added blood splatter effects and sound. All vehicles have been speeded up to a more natural

realistic speed. It also includes added artillery effects, Missle (one single hard blast to take out a

tank), a 45 second artillery birage and a 45 second smoke out (drops smoke bombs). I have upgraded just

about all weapons for better accuracy and power including all sniper rifles have a 3 zoom selectable

setting by using the fire rate button (M key) or what ever you set it for. Sticky satchels, sticky nades,

trip wires and plenty more, such as new skins and some more effects. This Mod is complimated with the awe

mod, so your have choices of many settings. I have included a config file already setup with the max that

it will let the mod run at.

======================
Must be run on COD UO Version 1.51

Changes in v2.8 from v2.6: Added seperate Menu Screen “zzz_ME_V2.8_menuscreen.pk3″ this will allow you to

change the Menu screen easier than opening up the main “zzz_ME_v2.8_mod.pk3″ file, or you can leave out

the menu screen .pk3 file and have the standard menu screen in UO.

======================
Here is a movie link to show you how to edit the “zzz_ME_V2.8_menuscreen.pk3″ it show how to edit the

menu file in v2.6, but instead just edit it in the new “zzz_ME_V2.8_menuscreen.pk3″ that way you don’t

have upload and download the bigger main mod file.
Movie link: http://www.webexpressplus.com/blog/wp-content/tutorials/mental-menu-change/

======================
Installation:
Extract the files zzz_ME_v2.8_mod.pk3 and zzz_ME_V2.8_menuscreen.pk3 and zzz_missle_smoke_artillery.pk3

also the mental.cfg config into your mod folder.

1. Put the “zzz_ME_v2.8_mod.pk3″ in your mod folder (e.g. mental_mod)
2. put the “zzz_ME_V2.8_menuscreen.pk3″ in your mod folder (e.g. mental_mod)
3. put the “zzz_missle_smoke_artillery.pk3″ in your mod folder (e.g. mental_mod)
4. Put the “mental.cfg” in your mod mod folder (e.g. mental_mod)

DO NOT PUT ANY OF THESE FILES IN ANY OTHER FOLDER TO RUN THEM, They must be in a mod folder (DO NOT PUT

THEM IN THE UO OR MAIN FOLDER) as this will cause problems with other files and mods.

To run these on a server and make downloadable you need to place a copy or them on your redirect server

in a mod folder (e.g. mental_mod) so that when someone connects to the server they will be able to auto

download them into their game folder.

You should also set the command line to run mods and custom config.
Command line example:
+set dedicated 2 +set fs_game Mental +exec mental.cfg +set sv_punkbuster 1 +map_rotate

There are a lot of addons in this mod so i cannot name them all but it is maxed out.

If you need any help feel free to contact me at wgn377 at bellsouth dot net , or my xfire user name is-

jake37.

enjoy

WinRar How to make a Self Extracting EXE

December 27, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

Here is how to make a Self Extracting EXE using WinRar. That will work on Vista and XP “Video Tutorial included

I needed to make a self extracting exe to extract some moded maps into any users file directory in Vista and XP, the maps would go into the mods folder. Below would be the correct path for Vista and XP. But I wanted one command to be able to use the same self extracting exe file on both XP and Vista, without making 2 separate files, so below is what I did to make this work on both XP and Vista. This will allow any user to extract without having to input their computer profile name.

(Vista) C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\

(XP)C:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\

While trying to make a self extracting exe using WinZip I found that trying to use \%USERPROFILE%\ or \%current user%\ in the extract to line using WinZip Self Extractor, that WinZip does not apparently support this, so you may have to use a batch file to accomplish this. I found that quite annoying, so, I tested this using WinRar and it works fine with WinRar.

I guess for making self extracting exe files and using the \%USERPROFILE%\ or \%current user%\ command in the path to the extracting folder. This will not work Using WinZip.

You have to use WinRar, using SFX “convert archives to self extracting exe”

If I use the Vista path %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\ it will not work on XP but will work on Vista.
<<<< WINRAR ONLY >>>>
So the command line I used, is this, to make it work using one command for Vista or XP.
If I use the XP path %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\ This will work on Both XP and Vista.
<<<< WINRAR ONLY >>>>

I want to thank my Friend HighNoon for the guidance in the correct direction in making this work.
I have tested this on XP and Vista…..and works so far. No need for the Drive letter to be included in the command line!
